I’m Matt Ruggiero, a fantasy author and cartographer based in Charlotte, NC. Since 2022, I’ve designed over 20 custom maps (including four of my own) for authors and worldbuilders, helping them turn rough sketches and ideas into polished, story-driven cartography.
Pivots Cartography was founded on the belief that fantasy maps bring a unique depth and immersion to storytelling that is hard to replicate. Understanding that many authors may find traditional mapping services out of reach, I aim to make stunning maps accessible to everyone.

Each map is hand-drawn from scratch — no AI, no templates, no shortcuts. Every world is custom-built to match your story’s tone, geography, and style.
The Process (How it Works)
Before
Have a map idea? Fantastic! We have the tools to transform your rough sketches into something stunning. Just book the type of map you need and we'll handle the rest! Commissions typically take about a week to complete and include several discussions on Discord to ensure your vision comes to life.

1. Submit Your World --- Send a description, notes, rough sketches—whatever you have. You don’t need artistic skill; I’ll interpret your vision.
2. Receive a Draft Layout --- I create a draft map showing landmasses, major geography, and early labeling so you can confirm the direction.
3. Request Revisions --- You give feedback. I refine the map with detail, icons, textures, shading, and final labeling.
4. Final Delivery --- You receive a polished, print-ready digital map in multiple file formats. Perfect for books, campaigns, websites, or marketing.
